Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are certificates that can be traded and sold to represent proof that electricity was generated from a renewable energy source. The owner of the REC can then rightfully claim to have purchased renewable energy. It is important, however, to understand that when you purchase a REC you only get a certificate. You still have to purchase electricity through your local provider.

Certified RECs
Due to their indirect nature, RECs can be difficult to verify. We suggest using independent certification to show that your RECs are accurately measured.
