Renewable Energy Certificates

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are certificates that can be traded and sold to represent proof that electricity was generated from a renewable energy source. The owner of the REC can then rightfully claim to have purchased renewable energy. It is important, however, to understand that when you purchase a REC you only get a certificate. You still have to purchase electricity through your local provider.

Renewable energy is created, integrated into the power grid and then distributed by utility suppliers. The purchasing of RECs helps you achieve LEED points, carbon neutrality, and in the end supports the future growth of the renewable energy industry. Your investment leads to more wind turbines, solar panels, and many other renewable energy sources.

Certified RECs

Due to their indirect nature, RECs can be difficult to verify. We suggest using independent certification to show that your RECs are accurately measured.  Got Green Energy understands the leading certification programs.  It is our goal to protect consumers helping to make sure that your RECs are of the highest quality and will be retired upon purchase (i.e. they won’t be double counted). With a deep understand of the REC market, our experts will help you identify RECs that are right for you.
